The Tanga region (North of Dar-es-Salaam) is the real Tanzania's garden ! Where the temperature is more 'continental', they can grow all the vegetables and fruits you can imagine ! Apples, oranges, peers, passion fruits, limes, strawberries, mangoes, ananas, and much more ! Otherwise, speaking in terms of tourism, Tanga has not much to offer. But the caves !! Tanga's caves are something unique in Africa ! They are 7 caves, very deep and large.
The most interesting one is the last one. The one you can reach only on special request and booking, 'cause you'll need a guide to go there.
Don't put your best clothes, 'cause you'll have to walk for an hour or more, through the bush, along a nice river, to reach this place. And then, you'll have to make ramping on some places, to visit the site. But it's worth to go there.
Then, from Tanga, going south to Dar-es-Salaam, make a stopover in Pangani. That's paradise, white beaches, historic buildings, sea and sun !
